Charges, Cancellation, and Refund Policy
Dear friends, travelers, and clients:
Thank you very much for choosing Andean Peru Tour! The Peruvian system of services and products sometimes differs from that of your home country. We recommend reading the following information carefully:
Travel in Peru
ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ operates in regions where accommodation standards may vary. Transportation and services may not be the same as those normally offered in your home country. However, we work with the utmost diligence and professionalism to provide the best service to our clients.
Traveling in Peru requires flexibility, patience, open-mindedness, good humor, and understanding. This means changes may occur without prior notice due to circumstances beyond our control, such as strikes, protests, landslides, bad weather, etc. (Force Majeure). By booking any of our tours or treks, you agree that ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ may make the necessary changes without any liability.
************* FORCE MAJEURE ***********************
Force Majeure refers to any event that ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ cannot foresee, control, or avoid, even with due diligence. This includes events such as war or threat of war, riots, civil strikes, terrorist activity, labor disputes, illness, natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, fires, or any similar event beyond our control.
In such cases, ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ will not accept any responsibility and reserves the right to change, postpone, or even cancel trips (this is, of course, a last option!).
Incremental Charge in Case of Protests or Strikes (Force Majeure)
In the event of a protest or strike (common in Cusco), it may be necessary to leave one or two days earlier than planned to fulfill other services. In this case, an additional charge may apply depending on the situation.
*************** RISKS *********************************
By booking any of our adventure trips (Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Lares, Salkantay, Ausangate, Choquequirao, Vilcabamba Waqrapukara hike and more), you accept the risks associated with personal accidents, medical emergencies, air travel issues, etc. For these treks, ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ does not accept any responsibility.
**************** TRAVEL INSURANCE ***************
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers accidents, medical expenses (including rescue and air ambulance), and emergency repatriation. We also recommend that it covers cancellations and luggage loss.
Once you have purchased travel insurance, please send a copy with the insurance company name and policy number by email or bring it when visiting our office.
*********** HOLIDAY OR ELECTION DAY SURCHARGES *****************
An additional charge of $35 USD per person applies to all treks (regardless of group/private option or group size) starting on the following dates:
- Christmas (December 22, 23, 24, 25)
- New Year (December 29, 30, 31, January 1)
An additional charge also applies if a group departs during election days (Peruvians are fined if they do not vote).
The extra charge is used to pay staff a holiday bonus or to pay fines for not voting.
******* SUBMITTING YOUR MAIN AND BACKUP DEPARTURE DATE *******
By providing us with a main and secondary trekking date (Classic Inca Trail, Lares, Salkantay, Machu Picchu Tour, Choquequirao, etc.), you automatically authorize ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ to use either date for your booking.
Once we receive your booking form and confirm that your deposit has been processed, ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ will send your final reconfirmation by email with the exact trekking departure date. You will receive this email within 48 hours.
********* SEND US YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR BOOKING *********
Your passport number and other personal information must be valid. Please inform us immediately if your passport number changes after booking your tour. This is especially important for booking any trek or Machu Picchu tour.
Student Discount
According to Peruvian law, you must be under 18 at the time of your trek, tour, or visit to Machu Picchu (students over 18 require an ISIC card). For example, if you book a trek at age 17 but turn 18 before the trek, you do not qualify for the student discount.
- Students aged 12–17: $30 discount
- Children aged 2–12: $40 discount
- Children aged 0–2: Free
All students must provide a passport copy at booking to receive the student discount. Email us a copy at info@andeantourperu.com.
REALIZING YOUR BOOKING & PAYING YOUR DEPOSIT

CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS BY ANDEAN TOUR PERÚ
We always do our best to operate tours as scheduled, but circumstances may require modifications (see “Force Majeure”).
We reserve the right to change services and replace them with reasonable alternatives. If a major change occurs, we will notify you as soon as possible.
VERY IMPORTANT
1. We strongly recommend spending 2–4 days at high altitude (over 3000 m / 9842 ft, such as in Cusco) before your trek to minimize altitude sickness. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and cigarettes, eat carbohydrates, and drink coca tea. Diamox may also help—consult your doctor beforehand.
2. We recommend arriving in Cusco at least 48 hours before your trek because sometimes we must depart early due to strikes or events beyond our control.
ABOUT THE BRIEFING
The night before your trek, there will be a mandatory briefing at our office at 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm (time confirmed upon arrival or by email). You will receive your duffel bag at this time.
Please review our packing list before attending the briefing.
Thank you again for choosing us—we look forward to seeing you in Cusco!
