Description

Situated within the stunning Andes mountains, just 15 km (9.3 miles) north of Cusco lies the Sacred Valley — a remarkable region carved by nature and history. Its fertility has nurtured pretty colonial towns, towns full of traditional weaving villages, bustling crafts towns and the imposing Inca fortresses of Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Urubamba.

A highlight of this area is the fascinating Salt Mines of Maras, with thousands of salt pools that have been in use since pre-Inca times. This destination also exemplifies ingenuity in the Moray terraces, an Inca agricultural laboratory where ancient people were able to cultivate over 250 types of crops as a result of their impressive irrigation systems with flood systems.

Your journey culminates at the iconic Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Located at the foot of Huayna Picchu, this UNESCO World Heritage site is a true masterpiece of architecture, urbanism and engineering. The sophisticated citadel is in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape, where it is considered to be one of the most extraordinary achievements of the Inca civilization, and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
