The Short Inca Trail 2 Days to Machu Picchu is perfect for travelers who would like to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Andean mountains, visit Inca ruins, and experience arrival at the Sun Gate in a shorter timeframe. Trek along the last section of the famous Inca Trail, visit Wiñay Huayna, soak in the breathtaking views, and explore Machu Picchu, accompanied by our local guide.
Experience the Wonders of the Inca Trail in 2 Days
Day 1: Cusco – Km 104 – Wiñay Huayna – Sun Gate – Aguas Calientes
Your adventure begins with a 4:00 am hotel pickup in Cusco, where you will travel by train to Km 104. After you arrive at Km 104, you will hike for 3 hours to Wiñay Huayna (2,650m), the beautiful ruins that provide a fantastic view of the Inca trail you just trekked. After exploring Wiñay Huayna, the last stage of the Inca Trail leads you to the Sun Gate (2,730m) where you will enjoy your first spectacular view of Machu Picchu. Dinner awaits in Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night in comfort.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Early morning rise to take of one of the first buses to Machu Picchu, where upon arrival you will witness sunrise over the Inca Citadel in the comfort of your small group predominantly made up of others who are either trekkers or day travelers. Your guide will provide two hour of tour, where you will learn the highlights of Machu Picchu, visiting temples, terraces, and plazas before providing you with free time to either continue to picture taking, or to hike Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu mountain, or the Sun Gate. Lunch in Aguas calientes will follow due to staggering afternoon return time to Cusco.
DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 104 – WIÑAY HUAYNA – SUN GATE – MACHU PICCHU.
Calientes, where you will spend the night in our hotel.

DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO.- Climb up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain and appreciate the beauty and magnificence of Machu Picchu (must be booked in advance and subject to availability.)
- You will be given some time to walk to the Sun Gate (free of charge)
- Other activities in Aguas Calientes include a visit to the local museum or to the hot springs (entrance fees required and time permitting.)
